Share

After years of dreaming and planning, my first visit to Brazil proved to be an unforgettable experience. From the vibrant streets of Rio de Janeiro to the bohemian enclave of Trancoso and the rich Afro-Brazilian history of Salvador de Bahia, each city left a lasting impression on me.

In Rio de Janeiro, I was mesmerized by the beauty of Ipanema Beach from my balcony at Hotel Fasano. The city's rich history came to life as I explored Sugarloaf Mountain and immersed myself in the vibrant culture of the Little Africa neighborhood. The culinary scene in Rio was equally impressive, with standout meals at Mesa do Lado and Oteque.

Moving on to Trancoso, I found a peaceful oasis in the midst of natural beauty at Fasano Trancoso. The laidback atmosphere of the Quadrado square and the stunning beaches left me in awe. Dining at Capim Santo and Alma Ninho provided a delicious taste of local Bahian cuisine.

Finally, in Salvador de Bahia, I delved deep into the city's Afro-Brazilian roots and rich history. The Balé Folclórico da Bahia show was a highlight, showcasing the vibrant cultural traditions of the region. Exploring the markets, trying local delicacies like acarajé, and dining at Casa de Tereza and Mistura Contorno provided a deep dive into Bahian flavors.

As I watched the sunset over the Bay of All Saints from my hotel balcony in Salvador, I knew that this trip was just the beginning of my love affair with Brazil. Each city offered a unique perspective on the country's diverse culture, history, and culinary delights. I left with a heart full of memories and a promise to return to this beautiful country again soon.
